2018 65th Anniversary of the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II $1 PNC
The Perth Mint and Australia post have released this commemorative stamp and coin cover celebrating the 65th Anniversary of the coronation of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II succeeded to the throne on 6 February 1952 after the death of her father, King George VI. As a result of the appropriate mourning period and the time needed to prepare for the elaborate ceremony, it was more than a year before her coronation tool place, on 2 June 1953.
Issued as Australian legal tender, the uncirculated aluminium bronze coin is housed in a beautifully designed card with a circular window revealing the coin's reverse and obverse designs.
The reverse of the coin features the St Edward's Crown atop a stylised shield. These symbols of the British monarchy are surrounded by representations of the floral emblem of Australia, the golden wattle, as well as the official lower of each Australian state and territory.
The design includes the inscriptions, H.M. QUEEN ELIZABETH II CORONATION ANNIVERSARY, '65', the year-dates 1953 - 2018, and The Perth Mint's 'P' Mintmark.
