2019 Centenary of 1st England to Australia Flight Limited Edition PNC
2020 Civil Aviation 100 Years Stamp And Medallion Cover Limited Edition PNC
The growth of flight in the early 20th century can be traced back to the innovations of the Wright brothers, the increased use of aircraft during World War I, and the availability of both aircraft and trained pilots, postwar.
These were leading contributors to the birth of civil aviation in Australia. To administer the burgeoning industry, the Air Navigation Act 1920 was passed by the Australian parliament, received royal assent in December 1920 and came into force on 28 March 1921.
Regulations drawn up under the Act provided for, among other matters, the registration and maintenance of aircraft, the licensing of personnel engaged in aviation and rules of the air.
The organisation established to administer the Act evolved over time to become the Department of Civil Aviation. Today, the Civil Aviation Safety Authority is the regulator, the Australian Transport Safety Bureau investigates accidents and incidents, and Airservices Australia is the nation's air traffic services provider.
The medallion's reverse features the '100 Celebrating 100 Years of Regulating for Safety'.
Limited mintage of just 1,200 covers.
The medallion is housed in an insert inside and Australia Post commemorative Envelope with $1.10 commemorative Civil Aviation Official Australia Post Stamps.
