The Snowman returns for a new UK 50p coin, and this time an adorable four-legged friend joins him. The Royal Mint is celebrating ten years since the release of The Snowman and The Snowdog, the highly anticipated sequel to The Snowman, Raymond Briggs’ much-loved Christmas tale. Released in 2012 to coincide with the 30th anniversary of The Snowman film, The Snowman and The Snowdog beautifully captures the festive magic of the original film as well as being a heart-warming story about loss and friendship.

Created with Raymond Briggs’ approval, The Snowman and The Snowdog tells the story of a boy, Billy, who discovers a snowman-making kit hidden under his bedroom floorboards. Billy builds a snowman and, with a little leftover snow, a snowdog. That night, the two come to life and Billy joins them on an enchanting adventure.

The Snowman and The Snowdog 2022 UK 50p Coin features an exclusive original design by award-winning illustrator Robin Shaw, who also acted as assistant director on the film.
