The Royal Australian Mint and Australia Post have released this stamp and coin cover celebrating 100th anniversary of the Trans-Australian Railway.

Features the Royal Australian Mint 'C' Mintmark Coin.

The Trans-Australian Railway opened on 22 October 1917 after five years of arduous construction work across the Nullabor desert. The railway ran between Port Augusta in South Australia and Kalgoorlie in Western Australian and provided nation-building infrastructure that not only linked the east and western coasts of Australia, but also provided the platform for successful negotiations to encourage Western Australia to join the Commonwealth of Australia and establish the Australian Federation.

Issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965, the uncirculated aluminium bronze con is housed in a beautifully designed card featuring photographic images of the railway.

The card includes a circular window revealing the obverse and reverse of the coin.

The coin's reverse features a representation of a train used on the Trans-Australian Railway.

The Ian Rank-Bradley effigy of her majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the 2017 year-date and the monetary denomination are featured on the coin's obverse.

Affixed to the envelope is an official Australia Post $1.00 stamp, postmarked First Day of Issue along with Australia Post's Seal of Authenticity.

Postmarked First Day of Issue .
