2001 Centenary of Federation 3 Coin Proof Set - Norfolk Island
This Three Coin Proof Set, produced by the Royal Australian Mint, Commemorates the Centenary of Federation of Australia. One hundred years ago, six British colonies came together in a Federation that established Australia as an independent sovereign nation, and in 1911 the Northern Territory became a separate Territory within the Commonwealth.
In 1914 Norfolk Island became a separate Commonwealth Territory with self-government conferred on it in 1979. Norfolk Island as part of the Commonwealth, the vision and talent of our youth, and the unity of our land are symbolised on the 50g, the 20 and $1 coins in this set.
The effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth ll by lan Rank-Broadley appears on the obverse of each coin.
