2010 Famous Naval Battles - Salamis $1 Silver Proof Coin

The coin’s reverse portrays a trireme, a fast and agile warship used by ancient civilisations of the Mediterranean between the 7th and 4th centuries BC. 

The design, which includes the inscription BATTLE OF SALAMIS 480BC and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark, also features a coloured section depicting a battle scene.

Issued as legal tender under the authority of the Government of the Cook Islands, the coin bears the Raphael Maklouf effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the 2010 year-date on its obverse.
