2012 Merry Christmas $1 PNC
Throughout many countries in the world, Christmas is a time of celebration and for honouring the ideals of peace, joy, hope and happiness.
One of the forgotten traditions of the festive season, is the giving and receiving of coins. Throughout history, coins and medallions have been given to loved ones for their precious metal value and as a token of respect, affection and esteem.
Issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965, the uncirculated aluminium bronze coin is housed in a specially designed card that fits inside a similarly designed envelope with a circular window revealing the coin’s reverse and obverse designs.
The design on this $1 uncirculated coin features Christmas bells tied with a ribbon, surrounded by Christmas tree greenery and stars. Along with the inscription ‘Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year’ and year-date included in the design.
A stunning abstract design featuring Christmas bells, holly, ribbon and stars grace the 2012 stamp that accompanies this coin.
The official Australia Post 60c stamp is postmarked for the first day of issue.
The envelope is endorsed with Australia Post’s Seal of Authenticity and official number.
