2013 Royal Christening 50c PNC
To mark the christening of His Royal Highness Prince George Alexander Louis of Cambridge on 23 October 2013, the Royal Australian Mint issued a 50-cent cupro-nickel uncirculated coin. The coin features at its centre the baby's name and date of birth under the initials of his parents, decoratively represented as the latest branch of the Royal Family tree.
Prince George was christened by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, in the presence of the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh, the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry and the immediate family of the
Duchess of Cambridge. Unlike most royal christenings, this one was held in the more intimate surrounds of the Chapel Royal in St James's Palace. The official photographs of the occasion were taken in the Morning Room of Clarence House by Jason Bell. One of these is used for the stamp design.
This postal and numismatic cover is limited to 14,000.
