2019 Queen Victoria 200th Birth Anniversary $1 PNC

Born on 24 May 1819, Alexandrina Victoria became Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland in 1837. Credited with playing a pivotal role in Britain’s progress during a time of rapid technological and social change, she ruled one of the largest empires in the world for more than 63 years. As monarch of the Australian colonies until 1901 Queen Victoria’s contribution to the development of Australia was profound. This is beautifully reflected in the depictions featured in this stunning collectable coin and cover set.

Anniversary Design

The coin’s reverse depicts the effigy of Queen Victoria that featured on the Sydney Type II sovereign from 1857 to 1870. Designed by Leonard Charles Wyon, the portrait portrays the Queen with wreaths of banksia in her hair. Decorative wattle branches, The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark and the inscription ‘QUEEN VICTORIA 200th ANNIVERSARY’ are also included in the design.

Featuring a pictorial postage paid envelope, the stamp area is postmarked with first day of issue 24 May 2019 Queen Park, WA 6107, a suburb named after Queen Victoria.
