2022 Australian Dinosaurs Four-Coin Limited-Edition PNC
This postal numismatic cover celebrates all things wonderful about collecting. The stamps and coins featured in this postal numismatic cover are from the range of collectables for the 2022 Australia Post Collecting Month featuring Australian Dinosaurs.
This remarkable cover features four $1 AlBr uncirculated coins from Collecting Month, the Elaphrosaurine, the Australovenator, the Diamantinasaurus and the Kunbarrasaurus.
The Australian Dinosaurs postal numismatic cover features four dinosaurs of the Cretaceous Period (145 million to 66 million years ago) when present day Australia was joined to Antarctica, New Zealand and South America to form the supercontinent of Gondwana. Being located further south than today, Australia had a cool, wet climate and vast floodplains covered about a third of what is now central Australia, providing an ideal habitat for dinosaurs.
The four dinosaurs are: Diamantinasaurus matildae, a long-necked, plant-eater up to 20 metres in length; Australovenator wintonensis, a carnivorous predator, about six metres in length; Kunbarrasaurus ieversi, a four-legged, plant-eater covered in bony armour; and an elaphrosaurine theropod (three-toed) dinosaur, which was slender, two-legged and probably a plant-eater.
This embellished postal numismatic cover and card houses four uncirculated coins produced by the Royal Australian Mint in aluminium-bronze. The collection is limited to a numbered run of 500.
