2026 Lunar Year of the Horse $1 Postal Numismatic Cover

This Postal Numismatic Cover is highly collectable, featuring a pictorial envelope with stamps from the Lunar New Year of the Horse stamp issue.

The Perth Mint is pleased to present this stamp and coin cover, celebrating the Year of the Horse.
According to Chinese tradition, the emperor ordered a great race between all the animals on Earth to
determine who should occupy 12 positions in the lunar calendar. In pursuit of the fifth placed dragon, the
free-spirited horse galloped towards the finish line with determination.

In a sudden twist, the horse was startled by the snake which was wrapped around its hoof, causing it to lurch back in fright. Despite the setback, the resilient horse claimed seventh place.

Those born under the sign of the Chinese Lunar Horse in 2026, 2014, 2002, 1990 and every 12th preceding
year are said to be independent, charismatic and love a sense of adventure. Being passionate and spirited,
they are gifted with natural charm and an ability to inspire others.

The coin's reverse portrays a coloured representation of a majestic mare alongside her young foal, both
depicted with elegant manes in a striking galloping stance. The background includes an image of mountainous landscapes and grassland.

Included in the design is the Chinese character for 'Horse', the inscription 'HORSE 2026', and The Perth Mint's 'P' mintmark.

On the obverse, the coin bears the Dan Thorne effigy of His Majesty King Charles Ill and monetary denomination. The coin is issued as egal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965.
