The outback
Australia's vast and rugged outback is a land of awe-inspiring natural beauty, steeped in rich history and cultural significance. Australian wildlife design
The coin’s reverse showcases a dynamic scene from outback Australia. Clockwise from the right, a dingo howls from its rocky perch, a crocodile looms as it raises its head from the water, two kangaroos pause to drink from the riverbed, and a frilled‑neck lizard rests on a nearby rock. Above, a powerful wedge‑tailed eagle soars with four companions following in formation. In the distance, emus stride across a mountainous landscape, gazing toward the rising sun. The design includes an array of native Australian flora, along with The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark and 2026 year-date.
The obverse bears the Dan Thorne effigy of His Majesty King Charles III, and the coin’s weight, fineness and monetary denomination. The outer rim is adorned with illustrations of native Australian flora.
Authentication feature
For additional peace of mind, the coin incorporates an authentication feature in the form of a micro-laser engraved letter. Detectable under a magnifying glass, it is designed to make it significantly more difficult for the coin to be counterfeited.
